• Report any issues, concerns, or rumors related to safety to your school principal or local law enforcement
• When visiting our schools, sign in/out at the school office and wearing a visitors' badge at all time while in the building
• Regularly update your student's emergency card with your current contact information and emergency information.  This is the information which will be used for our automated telephone system to alert you to situations.  I the event of an emergency, only custodial parents, legal guardians, and those persons listed on the emergency care card are allowed to pick up students at a parent re-unification center.
• If your child is on medication is taken at school, be sure the school has at least a two day supply at all times.
• Create your own family emergency plan.  For tips on how to prepare a plan go to the American Red Cross website: www.redcross.org

The best action is to stay close to your phone, email and monitor local radio and TV broadcasts.  School and district staff are trained to care for your child in emergencies.

• REMAIN CALM, panic and anxiety are normal responses, but do not help to resolve emergencies
• DO NOT drive to your child's school during emergency situations.  School streets, sidewalks and parking lots must remain clear for emergency vehicles and first responders
• AVOID calling the school or district offices during an emergency.  Please leave your phone open to receive calls and updates from the automated system
• STAY CLOSE to your telephone listed on your child's emergency card
• TUNE your radio to KSTN 91.5, KFBK 92.5 and local television stations to monitor the information

After a significant emergency instruction will be given through the automated telephone system of where to go to meet your child.

• Students will be dismissed from school or from the parent reunification center only to the parent/guardian or designated person listed on the student's emergency card
• Remain calm and patient during the process.  There are deliberate steps to ensure the safety of students and staff
• All  parent/guardian or designated persons picking up students MUST have a photo identification and will be check with the emergency card on file
  • No student will be allowed to leave with another person, even if they are a relative unless the school has written permission to that effect or the person is listed on the emergency card
• District and school staff will care for students until the parent/guardian or designated person arrives

• Following a school crisis, specially trained school and district crisis intervention members are available to provide counseling and outside referrals to students, staff, and others who may need it
• Monitor your child's behavior and let the school know if you think counseling or help is needed.  The district will work as quickly as possible to restore normal school operations and keep parents informed.
